ATTRACTION OF BRUNEI

  1. PANTAI SERI KENANGAN

  • A popular recreation area just five-minutes drive from Tutong town, the beach's appeal is the effect created by a narrow spit of land that separates the mirror-smooth Tutong River from the ruffled waters of south China Sea. Chalets, restaurant, huts, a playground and food stall are available.
  • Pantai Seri Kenangan or Seri Kenangan Beach is the nearest beach to Tutong town.A little further along, the road passes the village of Kuala Tutong sheltered amidst a forest of coconut palms, to reach the old jetty. Until the Tutong Bridge was constructed in 1959, a ferry had to be used to travel between the southern district centers of Brunei and Bandar Seri Bagawan.



      
     2. ISTANA NURUL IMAN

  • The Istana Nurul Iman palace is the official residence of the Sultan of Brunei, Hassanal Bolkiah, and the seat of the Brunei government. The palace is located on a leafy, riverside sprawl of hills on the banks of the Brunei River, a few miles south of Bandar Seri Begawan, Bruneis capital.The name Istana Nurul Iman is taken from Persian Astane and Arabic Nur-ol Imaan and means Palace of the Light of Faith. It was designed by Filipino architect Leandro V. Locsin, who utilized the architectural motif of golden domes and vaulted roofs to echo Bruneis Islamic and Malay influences. The interior of the palace was designed by Khuan Chew, Design Principal of KCA International, whose other works include the Burj Al Arab in Dubai. Construction was handled by Ayala International, a Filipino construction firm, and completed in 1984 at a total cost of around $1.4 Billion USD.The palace is not open to the public except on the annual Islamic celebration of Hari Raya Aidilfitri (the festival at the end of the Muslim fasting month) when the palace receives about 110,000 visitors over a three-day period where the guests receive gifts of food as well as green packets containing money for young children. The palace is also open to Muslims during 10 days of the Ramadhan period for the Bertedarus prayer gathering.






      3. JERUDONG PARK

  • Jerudong park is one of the most interesting and gorgeous place in Brunei Darussalam. It is located at Kampong Jerudong in Bandar Seri Begawan. It was the first playground built in Brunei. The arcades are divided according to its suitable place and the waterfront being located in front of the entrance to make it more interesting and attractive.The playground sometimes have a group of clowns make some action to attract the customers but nowadays, no more clowns present because of lots of people gathering to list their names and buy tickets to join in and nowadays the tickets are cheap to buy. In the playground, there`re so many things to play such as the bumper car, roller coaster, big bouncer, bumper boat and cyber games arcade, we just have to list our name on the ticket and give it to the guide arcade and so the time are limited for the players.The most Popular place been visited is the fire work view especially for the couple and married but it was not always have fire work, depends on what the event would be for example, his majesty  the sultan`s birthday, prophet Muhammad`s birthday, royal arm forces day and many more. The playground has free toys to play especially the old fashion toys like the snake and ladder, jigsaw and the sliders.      4. SULTAN OMAR ALI SAIFUDDIEN MOSQUE

  • Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien mosque is a royal Islamic mosque located in Bandar Seri Begawan , the capital of the sultanate of Brunei. The mosque considered one of the mosque beautiful mosques in the Asia Pacific and a major land mark and tourist attraction of Brunei.Named after Omar Ali Saifuddien III , the 28th sultan of Brunei. The mosque as a symbol of the Islamic faith in Brunei dominates the skyline of Bandar seri Begawan. The building was complicated in 1958 and an example of modern Islamic architecture.
  • The mosque is built in an artificial lagoon on the banks of the Brunei river at kampong ayer , the “ village in the water “. It has marble minarets and golden domes with courtyards and lush gardens full of fountains. The mosque is surrounded by a large number of trees and floral garden which in islam symbolize heaven.
    A bridge reaches across the lagoon to kampong ayer in the middle of the river. Another marble bridge leads to a structure in the lagoon meant as a replica of a 16th century sulan bolkiah mahligai barge. It was built to commemorate the 14,000th anniversary of nuzul al-quran ( coming down of the quran ) , completed in 1967 and used to stage quran reading competition.The mosque’s most recognizable feature , the main dome is covered in pure gold. The mosque stands 52m ( 171ft ) high and can be seen from virtually anywhere in Bandar seri Begawan. The main minaret is the mosque’s tallest feature. In a unique way it mixes renaissance and Italian architectural style .



     5. KAMPUNG AYER
  • Kampung ayer or the water village is an area of Brunei’s capital city Bandar Seri Begawan that is situated after the Brunei bay. About 29,000 people live in kampung ayer. All of the water village buildings are constructed on stilt above Brunei river.

    Built entively of stilt house and wooden walkways, this clusters of 42 villages housing more than 30,000 inhabitants is the world largest water village. Some of people refer to it as ‘ The Venice Of The East ‘.
    The water village is really made u of small villages linked together. Private water taxis provide rapid transit. Most of these taxis resemble long wooden speed boat.
    People have lived in Kamoung Ayer over 1300 years. According to geography professor Abdul Aziz. This is the largest and most famos water settlement of southeast Asia.
    In order to preserve Kampung Ayer a brunei’s Darussalam most vauable heritage. All of the six water village mukims ( district ) are collectively known as the water village but are identified as separated  mukims for administrative purposes.
